Good Questions, Honest Answers
Everything Columbia neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.
What areas do you cover around Columbia?
We're based in Columbia (65201) and cover about a 25-mile reach. That includes every part of the city, from East Campus, Benton-Stephens and the Old Southwest to the subdivisions along Nifong, Scott Boulevard, Grindstone and the north side off Route B, plus nearby towns like Ashland, Hallsville, Boonville, Rocheport, Hartsburg, Harrisburg and Centralia. If you're near the edge of that line, call and ask; a fuller list usually makes the trip work.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. For most jobs a few photos and a short phone call are enough for us to give you a firm price. For bigger or less predictable projects we'll come out and take a look at no charge. Either way, you'll know the number before anything is scheduled.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
We price by the job wherever we can, so you know the total before we start. For open-ended punch lists we agree on a rate and a rough scope together, so nothing comes as a surprise at the end. If a job goes quicker than expected, the price reflects that.
Are your pros licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in Missouri for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.
What kinds of jobs do you handle?
The everyday repair and upkeep list: drywall and plaster patches, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers and smart switches, hardwired doorbells and thermostats, faucet, toilet and disposal repairs and replacements, fence and gate fixes, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage, smart home devices and seasonal maintenance. Send us the whole list and we'll plan one visit around it.
I own a rental near campus. Can you handle turnovers?
Yes, and the timing in Columbia is tight. Many leases near Mizzou, Stephens and Columbia College end in May and start again in early August, so the summer window fills fast. We patch and paint walls, fix doors, locks and blinds, repair faucets and running toilets, replace smoke alarms and handle the small items a city rental inspection might flag. Book early in the spring and tell us the move-in date so we can work backward from it.
Can you help get a house ready for storm season?
Yes. Before spring storms we clear gutters and downspouts, check that extensions carry water well away from the foundation, secure loose fence panels and gate hardware, test sump pumps and battery backups where they exist, and look over doors and windows for gaps where wind-driven rain gets in. In the fall we do the same with an eye toward freezing rain: hose bibs, weatherstripping and gutter hangers that need to hold a load of ice.
Can I text you a photo of the problem?
Please do. A couple of clear photos, one close up and one from farther back, plus a sentence about what's going on, is usually enough for us to understand the job and often to quote it. It also means we arrive with the right parts the first time instead of making a second trip to the hardware store on Business Loop or Nifong.
How far out are you booked?
Small jobs can often be fit in within the week. Larger lists may take a little longer so we can block out enough time to finish everything in one visit. Late spring, after big storms, and the weeks around student move-in are our busiest stretches, so a little lead time helps then.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
